THE MOVIE--'Halloween: Resurrection' may use the same formula 'scream' did, but it is a
welcomedaddition to the franchise. The story is simple: laurie strode had herself locked away after the events of 'halloween
h20' because she *gasp* killed the wrong person, michael comes and kills two security guards and then laurie. personally this
opening sequence could have been better. Then we meet Freddie and Nora, two people who are sponsoring a webcam special for
their website called 'dangertainment'. They pick six people from Haddonfield College to spend the night in the Myers house
and quickly learn not to mess with michaels crib. One by one they get slaughterd. The rest is history. This movie only had
a few 'jump out of your seat' moments. 'HALLOWEEN-RESURRECTION' mostly relies on suspense to keep this movie thrilling. I
think the 'he's coming up the stairs' (palm-pilot) sequence is perhaps one of the mos thrilling moments in the series. The
movie is filled with laughter, suspense, gore, and more. These factors make 'HALLOWEEN-RESURRECTION' a definate must-see!---8/10
THE EXTRAS: This is the most jam-packed special edition of a 'halloween' movie yet! There
are hours of extras to keep you enthralled. First we'll start with the audio commentary
by Director Rick Rosenthal & Editor Robert Ferretti. This is a very laid back commentary with Rosenthal usually informing
the audience about on-set jokes. (note* at the beginning when the security guard is outside smoking a cigarette, you can hear
Rosenthals dog barking in the background) Rosenthal also tells us that a new special edition of the movie is on the way where
you can select whos camera you want to watch inside the house. He notes that this edition will take longer to prepare and
is coming out soon. Its mostly a quiet trak also discussing certain camera moves and some deleted sequences (the red firebird
follows sara on her bike, the alternate 8mm opening footage and more) An overall modest commentary track to give a listen
to.
Next up are the Deleted and Alternate Scenes-
1. Freddie and Nora in the control room talking about nora getting
night-vision cameras to see in the dark because they dont want to miss anything.
2. An extended version of the contestant interviews with more
laughs and background information, not really all that impressive.
3. Sara telling Jen that she wants to drop-out and Jen
convincing her to stay. 'what could possibly happen' is uttered by Jen in this scene. well jen, just wait and see.
4. Now this is a very strong scene that I thought should
have been included in the final cut. Its shows Michael pulling up to the Myers house in the red firebird. He gets out sets
the car alarm, then stares at the house for a few seconds. Its a little scene that goes a long way.
5. A scene that shows the group going through
a photo album and most of the pictures are of Michal crying. It didnt really work for me.
6. A scene at the end of the movie where Sara and Freddie are
standing by a police car and Freddie says he would give back every dollar hes ever made in his life to bring her friends back.
Sara starts to get upset and walk away. This is another scene I really like and strongly feel it should have been left in
the movie because it gives Sara a more vulnerable side and shows Freddie sentimentality.
7. One of the three alternate endings in which A Crime Scene
Investigator goes through the rubble of the Myers House and finds a secret tunnel, she investigates when a hand reaches up
and grabs the necklace around her neck. (NOTE: the guy who lifts up the 'do not cross' police tape for the investigator
is michael myers himself: Brad Loree)
8. The second alternate ending in which Freddie and Sara are
looking at Michael on a stretcher and Freddie is talkin crap about Michael and Michael pops up and starts choking Freddie
and then Sara takes and ax and hacks Michaels face with it.
9. The last of the deleted and alternate scenes consists of
the third alternate ending where Deckard, NOT Freddie saves Sara from the burning garage. In this version, Freddie isnt seen
again so we assume hes dead.
The three featurettes ('On The Set', 'Headcam', and 'The Tour Of The Set') are mostly promotional and talk about the cast and crew, Jamie Lee curtis
being patronized by all the younger actors in the films and such. The tour of the set with Troy Hansen is pretty interesting
and shows how they made the indoor set look real and added 40 years of age to the house, but the one that really stands
out is the headcam featurette that talks about the different types of cameras that were tested and the control people spying
on the actors. its pretty fun
The Webcam
documentary runs around 40 minutes long and is msot of the footage that the actors recoreded via their headcams.
You can listen to this with or withoutdirectos commentary and it shows some deleted angles and un used dialogue. This is the
highlight of the disc. Give this documentary a look, its really interesting!
The Still
Gallery has around 80 pictures in it, mostly of the cast and crew but there are a few stills that hint at
more deleted scenes such as a girl and her boyfriend standing by a tent, (this is just after Michael stole their firebird).
Some of the stills are candid and its worth a look.
Storyboard to Screen
Comparisons are just what they sound like, you can watch each persons death in the movie from 3 angles: just
the storyboard, just the film, or both side by side. its amazing how accurate some of the storyboards are lined up in continuity
with the shots from the movie. My favorite is Bills death. A good addition to the bonus features.
Last, but not least, Dimension has thrown in
some of their Sneak Peeks. There is a TV SPOT for 'Halloween: H20', the teaser
trailer for 'Halloween 6', a 'Gangs of New York' trailer and the 'scream boxset' trailer. SADLY NO TRAILER FOR HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION
IS INCLUDED!
This is the most jam-packed single disc dvd i have ever seen. The bonus features take you inside the production
of the movie and this dvd is the first halloween disc to ahve a commentary and deleted scenes. THIS DVD IS A MUST-BUY FOR
ALL HALLOWEEN FANS! 9/10
